Autostick is the name for the manual shift function of various automatic transmission models from Jeep, Chrysler, Fiat, Dodge and Ram. In 1996, the Autostick appeared for the first time in the sedans м Intrepid and Eagle Vision TSi, but today it is also available for most Fiat Chrysler Automobiles models. The autostick function allows the driver to use the engine torque as efficiently as possible in manual mode.

How transmissions with the autostick function work
Transmissions equipped with the autostick function are Automatic transmission with torque converter, planetary gear, electronic control and a function of adaptability to driving style. The torque converter has a lock-up function. The manual control is carried out using software.
Transmission shift pattern and modes may vary by vehicle model and transmission. Some vehicles can be shifted into manual mode by moving the shift lever to the “Autostick” position and then to the “+” or “-” position to change gears. Other vehicles shift directly into the “D” position when the lever is moved left or right. In many cases, rocker switches or buttons are provided on the steering wheel to make shifting easier.
